BUDAPEST BAMAKO

The Budapest-Bamako, also known as “The Great African Run” is the largest amateur rally in the world across the Sahara and an important charity car race in Africa.

Budapest-Bamako is a low-budget rally inspired by the Paris Dakar Rally.  We are promised a sense of adventure and the romance of Africa, much like the Paris-Dakar did in its early days. The B2 also raises money and supplies for local communities and charities in Mali.

ROUTE

The Budapest-Bamako is covering 9000km from Budapest, Hungary to Bamako, Mali through the Sahara, averaging 549km a day. It passes through Hungary, Austria (or Slovenia), Italy, France, Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania and Mali.  And if all goes well we’ll also need to get back home; Bamako – Brussels another 6400 km, so we plan to cover 15.000km in total in about 4 to 5 weeks.
